FACILITIES IN DEPARTMENT:-
Out Patient Services
- The department caters to out patient services for Mental illness everyday at New Medical College hospital, Kota and on every Wednesday at MBS Hospital, Kota. The OPD timings are from 09:00 AM in the morning to 3.00 PM in the afternoon from October to March and 8.00AM to 2.00 PM from April to September. The Patients have to register themselves in the Psychiatry OPD by paying nominal registration fees of Rs. 5 only (valid for one day). Department also provides following services everyday:-
- Deaddiction clinics
- Child & Adolescent clinics
- Psychosexual clinics
Special Services
Drug De-Addiction Services:-
OPD De-Addiction services are provided throughPsychiatry OPD running all days of the week.Department is already running our OST Centre fundedby NACO for I.D.U’s where Buprenorphine is beingadministered to the patients. It’s Rajasthan’s 1st OST Centre runningsuccessfully.
DTC is functioning in New Hospitalattached to Medical College Kota. Dr.DevendraVijayvergia, Professor of Psychiatry, GovernmentMedical College, Kota (Rajasthan) is Nodal OfficerIncharge of it. Dr.VinodDariya is Assistant Nodal Officer.Staff including MO, Counselor& Nurse has been recruited. Methadone, Buprenorphine, drug is available for opioidsubstitution therapy. All drugs given free of costto the patients. This drug Treatment clinic is established under Scheme for Strengthening of Drug DeAddiction Services, Drug DeAddiction Programme (DDAP) of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India (http://www.mohfw.nic.in). 14 Centers have been selected all over india& Department of Psychiatry Government Medical College, Kota is One of them. This is also 1st in Rajastham.

Disability Certification- Department provides Disability Certificates to Mentally disabledperso00ns on every Monday at NMCH, Kota from 9:00 AM to 12 noon from October to March and 8.00AM to 11:00AM from April to September.The documents required for certification are-
- Application
- 07 Pass port size photographs
- Photocopy of ration card
- Photo ID (father’s photo id - election voter card, driving license)
- Photo copy of old treatment records
- Copy of IQ test or other disability assessment test
- Rs.10/- Stamp paper for proof that no such disability certificate have been issued to the patient in the past.
Psychodiagnostic testing- by clinical psychologist (paid service).
Electroencephalograpy (EEG)- Department is self equipped with a digital EEG machine, which is used to do EEG of patients in OPD and Indoor on daily basis with reporting facility.
In Patient Services
The department caters to the need of serious patients by admitting them. There is one Male Psychiatry ward (having 16 beds), One Female Psychiatry ward (having 16 beds) and One Deaddiction ward (having 10 beds).
Department also provides following services for indoor as well as outdoor patients-

- Behaviour and Aversion therapies
- Narco-analysis
Human Resource Development:
Training to post-graduates in the field of psychiatry. Currently 03 post-graduate seats per year have been approved by MCI.
Training to MBBS, Interns and Nursing students.
Post-graduates and other faculties are regularly sent in various training programmes and workshops throughout the country for upgradation of their knowledge of psychiatry.
