The Department of Surgery has a strong reputation for providing competitive and comprehensive training for surgical residents, fellows and medical students. Our department's educational mission is to cultivate future leaders in surgery and expand our established educational programs that provide medical students, surgical residents and fellows with exposure to advance surgical techniques.
The Department of Surgery cares for patients at Hospital and Clinics. Once patient come to the Department of Surgery at the hospital; care will be provided in a clinic that unites several specialties to provide the best possible treatment plan. Our department prides itself on highly trained expert surgeons in their fields use of innovative techniques supported by cutting edge research and outcomes above national benchmarks.
The Department of General Surgery provides comprehensive surgical consultation and care in many subspecialties including colon and rectal surgery, trauma and endocrine surgery, bariatric surgery and multidisciplinary hepatobiliary pancreas surgery. Our skilled surgeons are fellowship trained in various specialties and many are renowned across the · country, or around the world, as leaders in their respective disciplines.
The Department of General Surgery is also providing training to opportunities to post doctoral fellows in the field of surgical oncology, as well as short-term summer research opportunities for medical students in programs related to diabetes, digestive diseases, and kidney diseases.
Research in the Department of General Surgery has grown tremendously over the past several years. Our portfolio of research grants has become even more diversified with the addition of several new productive faculty members with research programs.
The department of general surgery is also involved in conducting various CME's & workshops keep the department Simultaneously up to date with recent advances.
Department of general surgery is an upgraded department state of art laparoscopic operation theaters and four theaters for open procedure. The department also provides the facility of library, simulators for laparoscopic training for the learning of post graduates with 8 operation theatres well equipted for advance laparoscopic & open surgeries.
Two specialty departments namely gastro surgery and oncosurgery and being running successfully. Department also owns well equipped nine bedded surgical ICU for intensive care management.

Our vision
The Department of Surgery continues to evolve as a model for primary and tertiary patient care, integrating all aspects of surgical management including inpatient, outdoor patient, and emergency services. The faculty will provide the surgical resident with a progressively graded curriculum of study including clinical and research experience under close guidance and supervision. The surgical resident will acquire a broad understanding of disease biology as it relates to disorders of a surgical nature and the technical knowledge and skills appropriate to completely manage patients with surgical diseases. The resident will also develop professional skills and receive system-based training in small group sessions.
