Development of Department of Cardiology and present position of Cardiology Department
Initially Department of Cardiology was under department of medicine. In year 1992 first Cath lab was established under guidance of Dr. V.S. Baldwa, HOD, and Department of Medicine cum Cardiology. At that time 50 beds were sanctioned for Cardiology.
Separate Department of cardiology was established in year 1995 under guidance of Prof. Dr. R.K. Madhok. At that time only two units was present with 5 faculty-one Professor, two Associate Professors and two Assistant Professors. III Unit of cardiology was started in 2011 and IV unit was started in 2014. At present the department is under guidance of HOD and Prof. Dr. S.M. Sharma with following 14 faculty members, Prof. Dr. Anoop Jain (Unit Head I), Prof. Dr. Rajeev Bagarhatta (unit head II), Prof. Dr .V.V. Agarwal (Unit head IV), Prof. Dr. Vijay Pathak(Unit Head V), Prof. Dr. C.B. Meena, Prof. Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Associate Professors Dr. Neeraj Chaturvedi and Dr. Rakesh Mahla , Assistant Professors Dr. Sohan K. Sharma Assistant Prof Dr. Dinesh Gautam , Dr. Balbeer Pachar, Dr. Himanshu Mahla and Dr.Pradeep Meena.
DM Course was started in the Department from year 2000. At that time total number of seats for DM Course was 2 but in 2010 the total no of seat was increased to 8. Recently in June2018 DM cardiology seats was increased to 12. At present 12 candidates are admitted for DM Course each so that total 28 DM Residents are present in the department.
Two years paramedical diploma course in ECG (DET) was started in 2006, 20 candidates are admitted each year for the same.
Since 2008 cardiology OPD is running all seven days in a week.
At present total number of beds are 80 in general ward. There are 22 beds in Cardiac ICU.
Rounded the clock Cardiology Emergency Department was started in 2012.
At present average 50 procedures in Cath Lab, average 150 Echo study and 15-20 CTMT are done daily in the Department.
PG curriculum details
PG teaching is going on regularly five times in a week for the first one hour in the morning. The schedule is as follows:-

Tuesday - Journal club
Wednesday - Graphics and management presentation
Thursday - Hemodyanamics presentation
Friday - Case presentation
