General Information
The Department of Medical Oncology was established on 21st April 2016 by up gradation from independent Medical Oncology Unit. Since then this department is achieving a new horizon in the field of cancer care of all ages with the goal to provide best possible comprehensive medical care services even to patients with low socio-economical background maintaining scientific attitude and humane approach. The department provides state of the art treatment services for cancer patients coming from not only Rajasthan but also from neighboring states including Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The department delivers care not only in the field of medical oncology but also extends the benefits to Bone Marrow Transplant, pediatric oncology and clinical trial services.
The center is delivering almost free services to the low socioeconomic status patients under various schemes of Rajasthan government. The center also has special OPD for care of central lines (PICC, central line, Chemo-port and Hickmann line).
Bone marrow transplant: This is one of the few centers in the country to have established hematopoietic stem cell transplant facilities. Bone Marrow Transplant services are also state of the art at our center. We are proud lamp bearers of BMT in state of Rajasthan as we performed the very first Bone Marrow transplant in our state. We are providing facilities of autologus, allogenic and half matched allogenic stem cell transplant services for all kinds of hematological, pediatric malignancies and non-malignant disorders. BMT is done with a team of well-trained doctors with separate HEPA filter unit at RKBCC. Patients from all sections of society and other states profit with all these available resources. We are proud to say that we are among the few to provide half-matched allogenic BMT services in government medical colleges in India. We did our first haploidentical transplant in Jan-2016 at our center.
The department of Medical Oncology also participates in clinical trials. Various national and international clinical trials are undergoing at present.
Hospital based cancer registry under the aegis of national centre for disease informatics and research (ICMR) has begun at our centre. This project envisages capturing core patient information of all cancers reported /registered in our hospital. The aim of hospital based cancer registry (HBCR) is to fulfill the objectives like patient care assessment, patterns of cancer in our area, survival data on patients in relation to stage and site of cancer, undertake epidemiologic research, evaluate the time trends of cancer, help in plan future hospital facilities. HBCR would prove to a giant leap for providing data on cancer patients as well as patient welfare.
In collaboration with the state government, the Department is also furnishing services for cancer awareness and early cancer detection. We trained the physician from Rajasthan state in this field. Screening programs for early cancer detection are being conducted at a regular basis in Rajasthan. We are also conducting camps, Continuing education programs, symposia on topics related to cancer.

CanKids - The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer in India is a National NGO working across the entire spectrum of Childhood Cancer Care. They provide holistic support to a child with cancer and the family, from moment of detection, through diagnosis, treatment and after. So far, 757 children have been provided assistance at our center.
The aid and facilitation by these NGO’s assist patients especially children with cancer to initiate and sustain the treatment. Children and adolescent patients are receiving free shelter and food during treatment.

Bone Marrow Transplant Center
State Cancer Institute
State Cancer Institute is established on the premises of Rajasthan University of Health and Sciences (RUHS) in Pratap Nagar as a part of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital.
This institute is going to provide state of the art modern cancer care facilities under one roof.The capacity of the institute is 60 beds.
The institute will offer advanced technological amenities and treatments to the cancer patients. All disciplines like Radiotherapy, medical oncology, surgical oncology, nuclear medicine, pathology and interventional radiology would be integral parts of the institute.
Presently, outpatient department and daycare facilities are available at SCI. Soon all other facilities like Linear escalator, CT stimulator, six modulator operation theatre, X-Ray, Sonography, Mammography and Elastography would begin to be functional. It is going to be a feather in the cap for the state of Rajasthan.
This institute will provide all the technologically upgraded medical facilities at minimal prices. Cancer affected patients will benefit immensely from these new services.
